Logan in Graphite

Logan in Graphite
Pencil drawing on 20" x 30" hot press illustration board
I know the general rule with sketching/drawing is to work the entire drawing slowly, building up in layers until it's complete, but I can't seem to make myself do this. Once I sketch in the initial outline and feel satisfied, I focus on each section and bring it right to final.
I worked on the eyes first, because there was no reason to continue if I messed it up too much here.
The black blob along the bottom are knees. I intentionally left them very flat with the hope that it would keep the focus on Logan and help his shading pop a bit more.
