My project uses several different methods to convey the idea that so many of the things in our lives that we take as given truths, such as photographs and reflections, could actually be considered a lie. Such things as photographs have been throughout history thought of as truthful, as they are made by machines that "take" images from reality. As some may know, cameras have many ways of lying to you, through camera technique, and through their subject. People almost always act differently when they know that they are being photographed. They often smile, become more self conscious, or try to act a certain way. In these pictures, the subject is pictured, while he is actually in the process of telling an elaborate lie to the camera with words, and acting differently than normal because he is in front of a camera. The camera then takes a picture of him, skewing things slightly because of the perspective, and using cropping selectively decide what will be pictured. The photographer, then edited the pictures, changing the colors and brightness. After all of those changes were made to the pictures, one of them was then flipped, to look back at the other picture and reflect on what may or may not be considered truth. Read Less
