Ashcraft Design was approached to handle the design of Klipsch's first foray into the portable speaker market.  Klipsch speakers have always possessed a unique ability, with their unparalleled efficiency, low distortion and wide dynamic range, to reproduce sound that recreates the emotions experienced while listening to live music, whether it’s the emotions generated from an intimate solo performance in a small nightclub or the audience interaction and excitement created at a major concert at a large outdoor venue.

The speaker’s wedged design, and three-sided border at the front evokes a distinctly concert bandshell like image. The frame seems to jump out at you a bit, enhancing its aura of a powerful sonic device.  Despite its size, it is extremely portable with its integrated handle.

The design was so successful and well received that it sparked a smaller even more portable version, the KMC 1, with the same design language.
