This work has been split into two segments for evaluation criteria: Character Design and Character Performance. This work selection represents the former. Kinnaree is loosely based on the Thai myth; “mythical female bird with a human head”. Within this Thai culture and Asian art, based on the mythical creatures of the Himmapan Forest; a legendary forest that lies between Heaven and Earth in the Himalayas. According to ancient manuscripts and taking into account the different artists’ interpretations of them, the creatures dwelling in the forest were hybrid animals mixed with birds, mammals, reptiles and often humans. By comparing the various translations of them in sculptures and murals and adding our own touch to the character designs and the environment, we developed a unique world filled with traits from the cultures of the deep East. It tells the story of a precocious half-bird, half-human deity, who on her pilgrimage through mystic forests, is interrupted by a strange and playful creature. Read Less
