The Hamsa hand is a symbol used to ward off evil. It is popular in many cultures, mainly in the Middle East and North Africa, and is gaining recognition in Western culture. The blue gems are also used as protection against the "evil eye".
Navel Dangle, right;
I chose a Blue Morpho Butterfly wing to dangle from the "Seed of Life" to illustrate the beauty and balance found in nature. The Seed of Life is a symbol used by the New Age community to depict the six days of creation in which the Judeo-Christian God created life.
The black gem stone at the top of the piece serves to balance out the black portion at the bottom of the wing.
