It is also the birthplace of Nelson Mandela (Madiba) who was born in Qunu. Out of the nine provinces of South Africa the Eastern Cape is the most derelict with the poorest service delivery in the country yet it is a place of traditional beauty. Read Less

Exploring the home of the African National Congress (ANC), the ruling political party of South Africa
The African National Congress (ANC) is the current ruling political party of South Africa that came into power under the leadership of Nelson Mandela, affectionately known as Madiba, in 1994. Former President Mandela comes from a small town in the Eastern Cape called Qunu. The Eastern Cape is an ANC stronghold and yet is currently the most corrupt and derelict province in South Africa. The isiXhosa are the dominant population group. These images are my observations of the home of the ANC noting it's change from a liberation movement into a ruling party.
