Last summer, I had the privilege of co-leading a group of 13 high school students from New York City public schools through a cultural immersion program in Dharamsala India, where the Dalai Lama and other Tibetans live in exile. We stayed with host families, listened to important guest speakers, visited various sites, took Tibetan language classes, volunteered with an organization to teach conversational English to Tibetans, including monks and nuns, in Dharamsala. We also visited the Tibetan Children’s Village which serves children whose parents have died in their migration to safety over the Himalayan mountains or whose parents have been imprisoned in Tibet because of their religious devotion. Half of the proceeds from the print sales of the Indian images will be donated to them. Read Less

For the past two summers, I have had the privilege of co-leading a group of high school students from New York City public schools through a cultural immersion program in Dharamsala India, where the Dalai Lama and other Tibetans live in exile. The first summer, after seeing the students home with other group leaders, I stayed behind in India and traveled to Dehli, Jaipur, Agra, and Mumbai.
