On the 11th of March I was granted access to the village of Imber, on Salisbury Plain. The village and the grounds it stands upon belong to the Ministry of Defence, the area is strictly off limits to the public as it is used as Army training grounds. The village was evacuated in 1943 for the use of American troops preparing for the invasion of Europe during World War 2. Around 150 people were evacuated from the village after being given 47 days notice to leave their homes. The MoD promised the villagers they could return to their village after the war.
