I created these illustrations to tell the Grimm's Fairy Tale, 'The Willow Wren and the Bear'. The fox tells the bear that in the forest, there lived royalty who sang. The bear imagined a lavish castle, and was disgusted to find the bird 'royalty' living in a nest. The young birds were reasonably upset at this insult, and they told their parents. The parents went to the bear, declaring war on all animals who walk. These animals assembled, but didn't notice  a tiny fly spy. The spy heard the group saying that if the fox's tail is up, all is well. If it is down, retreat! So a bee stings the fox's tail so it goes down, and the land animals lose. The sky animals demand an apology from the bear, and get it. For the full tale, use this link! http://www.bartleby.com/17/2/36.html. Thank you so much for looking, I hope you enjoy.
