Ilgana is a fantasy world inspired by Turkic and Anatolian cultures and mythologies. It tells the story of the never-ending war between the Sürek, who live in harmony with nature, lead plain lives and cooperate with the spirits of nature and the Dorman, baleful sorcerers who gain power by sucking the life force off of soil.
“There is no tomorrow in this land. Yesterday repeating itself is all there is…”
Ilgana is intended to introduce the stories, values and sense of history of the lands that fall east of the Aegean Sea as opposed to the conventional European mythology. It is designed and developed by three artists: Özgür Özol, writer, historian and a game designer, is the creator of Ilgana. Ayşegül Övün is our linguist and I am the art director. I am in charge of functionality and visual development. I design environments, characters, items, creatures and all other concepts. The novel “Ilgana,” our first production, was published in December 2010. Designs for “Ilgana: SAGU,” the fantasy role playing game, are complete and the game is currently tested.
"Qut," the force inspiriting the land, is drained by sorcerers in charge of cities… A gifted young man, snatched away from his Sürek camp as a child and trained to become a sorcerer, starts questioning his purpose… He escapes from the island he has lived in as a chosen refugee sorcerer and returns to his camp expectantly, only to see the relented Sürek, along with his shaman master, disavow what he has hoped for… The young shaman struggles to recollect the Sürek way and discover why the ancestors have forsaken them…
Thus, with this novel, the Ilgana saga begins.
We, Yaratıcı Takım (The Creative Team), have been developing the Ilgana project for the last six years with the help of numerous amateur and professional artists and academicians. Read Less
