In early 2011, BMD was selected to create the digital experience for the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. The goal was to create a website unlike any other, that would create a platform to support the voice of the artist.
The site needed to engage and foster a national and international community who are passionate about art, culture, contemporary issues, and ultimately the Hirshhorn.
Our concept used the unique architectural structure of their building to inform the digital experience. The site was designed to showcase art, as it would be seen in the rounded gallery space. Clusters of images were selected and arranged, as they would be on-site. Users control what they see in the gallery with gestural movements.
