I created a chapbook about the life, history and art of Gustav Klimt. When creating the book I wanted to relate the design to contemporary fashion. I did this by having more negative space, limited color palate and an overall minimalist design. I broke the book up into 4 sections. With these section breaks I used a metallic paper to represent his use of gold leaf in his work, as well as an abstracted quote from the coming section. The fonts I chose were a mix between modern and classic. I used Cantarell for the body copy, which is a clean sans serif font. Bodoni was used for titles and section names, because it relates back to high-end fashion. Lastly, Baskerville italic was used for the quotes, which is a more classic font that I took a modern approach with.
