Grist Magazine/University of Texas Alumni Magazine 2012

Two editorial projects, both for environmental articles taking opposing theses on similar subjects.
Ever get two articles that tackle the same or similar topics from two separate and radically opposed perspectives?  Up top is an image done for Grist Magazine for an article forecasting the extreme ecological consequences of ocean acidification.  Below is a full-page done for a University of Texas alumni magazine about how social and environmental systems are at once complex, subject to human control and influence, and not as apocalyptic as forecasted.  Usually I’m happy when I get to draw water, no matter where opinion in the source material is tacking.  Makes me wonder what I wouldn’t illustrate for…  Anyone want to help me find that edge?  Thank you Greg and Mignon, and Kate and Erin!
