I've had the privilege of work with Chef Ashley Christensen on four new establishments. Ashley is an incredible chef, advocate of local eating, and builder of community around food and cooking. She has been nominated by the James Beard Foundation, chronicled in everything from the New York Times to Gourmet, and was just on Iron Chef. She is as detail oriented a person as I have ever met. When it came to identities for her restaurants, she valued design and quality craft. The first project is the identity, business card, menu, and signage for Fox Liquor Bar. The bar is underground, no windows, so we wanted a deep, simple palette with a hint of sophistication but not frivolity. The result was bespoke inline type in gold foil on pewter paper. That inline type also became a 7 foot tall double-sided neon sign on the exterior of the building.
