Inspired by the highly simplified and gestural work of Constantin Brancusi, "Bird in Flight" aims to visually describe the many forces which act upon an airborne object. The pantihose chamber in which the bird is suspended is meant to describe the motion of air over the abstracted bird form, while the curvature of the base alludes to the spiraling motion of trailing air currents created behind birds’ wingtips. Balanced yet easily affected by the slightest breeze, the piece attempts to capture both the intrinsic harmony and the delicate vulnerability of nature. Read Less
