FLOW Hundreds of interactive ventilators

FLOW by Studio Roosegaarde is a smart wall composed of hundreds of ventilators that interact with passing visitors. By walking and interacting with this surface, visitors trigger the emergence of an illusive landscape created by transparent fields and artificial wind.

Measuring several meters, the most recent version of FLOW heightens the visitor’s consciousness of himself as a collective body, becoming one with space and technology. This project was awarded with the Dutch Design Award 2009 in the category of Best Autonomous Spatial Design.

Specifications:
2007-2011. Modular system of several meters, length 50 cm, width 100 cm, height 200 cm. Current version of 10 meters with hundreds of ventilators, aluminum, sensors, microphones, electronics, software and other media.

Clients:
Commissioned by Kapelica Gallery, Ljubljana SLO and TodaysArt, The Hague NL.
FLOW is part of the 21C Museum Art Collection USA.
