This is a project I did while going to UCM. I wanted to try scratchboard and for one of my finals I decided to explore the medium. I found that I absolutely love scratchboard. This project has quite a deep meaning to it. The focus is not the person in the painting but "his" stance and what surrounds him. I intentionally did not have his face in the painting because I did not want his face to be a distraction to the viewer. I won a citation award for the project which makes it all the more special to me. I like that viewers can see the deeper meaning in a piece of work rather than what they see at first glance.
