Mandela is to many a father, ruler, leader, warrior and a champion. His legacy, story, ideals and message would have been meaningless if he did not first forgive.

 

After 27 years in prison, he got back to a position where he could repay back everyone that has hurt him. But in selflessness, he put his country before his personal vendetta. 

 

Bottom line, he showed that the strongest  tool to peace is forgiveness.
