Loose, spontaneous 'extreme sketching' from the highway in New Mexico. High energy fun!
Extreme Sketching
In 2007 I spent a month in New Mexico and Texas.  New territory for me.  These sketches were done, with a few exceptions, from the passenger seat of my host's vehicle.  The open landscape, so different than heavily treed British Columbia, supported my 'extreme sketching' mode.  With a sketchbook on my knees and a bucket of watercolor crayons and watercolor pencils on the console, I'd glance up and catch the clouds, head down to apply quick line & colour to paper.  Next glance up and I'd catch the distant horizon.  Glance up to catch the next closest line of landscape or objects, then head down to apply to sketchbook.  Really fun!
This sketch was done sitting on a bench below the caves at Bandolier.  No high speed 'extreme sketching' here.
