The following lab assignment was done in my Networking Devices course.  I used a software called Wireshark to analyze and gain a comprehensive understanding of different packet types with their associated Type Codes.
This is an example of an Ethernet Frame with the data (packet) embedded in the frame.  The first 6 bytes (48 bits) are the Destination MAC Address, the next 6 bytes (48 bits) are the Source MAC Address, the next 2 bytes are the Ethernet Type Code which identifies what type of packet is embedded in the frame, the data or packet itself can range from 46-1500 bytes, and the last 4 bytes are the CRC Checksum to ensure error correction.
