An assignment for a Spring 2012 Illustration class gave students the task of designing a new, fun packaging for any of Eight Hour Day's assortment of coffee. I chose their Colombian line because I wanted to design something festive and ethnic and had never studied the Colombian culture. I researched Colombian folk art and mixed it with modern pattern all in the colors of the country's flag, and set everything on the background of a burlap bag to give the coffee a modern-take-on-vintage look. For the final result, I hand-cut the typography from the design into a belly-band and slipped it around the cylindrical can with the company's logo in front. Pictures of the final product to come soon!
