Limestone in the white desert was formed about 70 million years ago by alluvial marine life. Then, the bottom of sea raised and the limestone became exposed. Rain, wind and sand curved amazing sculptures.
About 50 million years ago, mangrove forests of shallow waters became a graveyard of whale. Then, accumulation of mud formed mudstone with whale fossils inside. The layer raised and it was exposed to rain and wind which revealed the fossils of whales. Read Less
