My art piece entitled “Dürer’s Keyboard” is inspired by Renaisance artist Albrecht Dürer’s studies in mathematic and geometrical principles. In 1525 he wrote a book called “Of the Just Shaping of Letters,” in which he detailed how to exactly draw the 23 letters of the My art piece entitled “Dürer’s Keyboard” is inspired by Renaisance artist Albrecht Dürer’s studies in mathematic and geometrical principles. In 1525 he wrote a book called “Of the Just Shaping of Letters,” in which he detailed how to exactly draw the 23 letters of the Latin alphabet, using simple geometry. Where Dürer used compasses, squares, straightedges, I have used CAD software. Where ink was laid down on vellum, I have etched wood with laser. The letters are arranged in a keyboard layout to symbolize the changes in communication over the last 500 years.
