This artwork was created during the development of graphics for Tigerstyle's Digi-Bhang project.
The Digi-Bhang album combines traditional bhangra music with new "digital era" sounds. I wanted to carry this concept through into the artwork by combining a portrait of a traditional punjabi woman, with henna patterns in the background, and some modern elements.
This piece mainly serves to capture the idea that old traditions are torn at and become disintegrated throughout the years - especially in terms of bhangra music, which has changed drastically over time - however, traditions and traditional music still stand through the years in full vibrancy and remain timeless.
I chose to maintain the traditional/digital fusion by using traditional art elements - the portrait drawing and inking with and combining them with digital elements through Adobe Photoshop.
