3x4,5
"3x4,5" is an investigation into how thepress have become agenda setters in contemporary news. The project aims to reflect deeper about the role of visual communication in the press and its power in manipulating people's interest and attention. Following the story of the death of Osama Bin Laden the project analyses the visual representation of the victims of terrorist attacks. By looking at the newspapers' pages and layouts the attention focusses on the sizes, quality and anatomy of the victims' portraits. Starting from the assumption that the size of the photograph is related to their importance on the page, the project uses image resolution and scale as methods of experimentation in order to show the content hierarchy. When images were blown up in size, the visual consequence was a pixelated image with illegible faces. The bigger the dimension the lower the quality.
