Deer Skull

This is an assignment for my Master Program Scientific Illustration.
We had to choose an animal skull and draw it from this view. I picked one which was owned by my grandparents since the seventies and was given as a present to me (for this assignment) by my grandmother.

First I made a simple line drawing to get the shape right (as you can see here it was a little bit too wide at first).
Then I went on and made a rough light and shadow drawing. This comes in handy when you work (like me) mostly with natural light. If there is a day with difficult weather conditions you can alway look at this sketch to have an idea if you are going in the right direction with light and shadow.
This is the finished illustration of a deer skull.
