DC's Artist Projects™ presents the "Caviar Cartel" Collection
New York artist SSUR's first collaboration with DC and their "Artist Projects™" in 2005.

For this installation in the DC Artist Project’s™ range in 2005… New York artist SSUR teamed with DC's Artist Projects to create the latest shoe in the innovative series. The SSUR high top shoe featured a specially designed SSUR sole and insole as well as a custom "Caviar Cartel" box, which resembles a caviar tin.

SSUR's shoe was produced in three separate color ways:
- Black/Gold,
- Black/White
- Black/Silver.

While the release of all three offerings were highly anticipated, the Black/Silver shoe was the most highly coveted, as DC produced a limited run of less than 100 pairs featuring actual stingray uppers. SSUR chose this unique material to reflect the imagery of caviar, a treasured Russian delicacy.

Both the Black/Gold and Black/White Shoe had stingray pattern upper panels. The shoe was sold in three distinct levels beginning in November 2005. The Black/Gold was available through select skate shops worldwide. The Black/White, which was limited to 500 pairs, was introduced globally through various boutiques. Finally, the Black/Silver shoe which features actual stingray were exclusively offered through the DC and SSUR boutiques in New York City.
