Counterpoint was built in response to the Philip Johnson designed sculpture court at the MWPAI Museum of Art. An exploration of the idea of arrested and precarious motion, Counterpoint used the museum’s logical and a rational proportions as a foil. Initially inspired by the idea of a fragmented, inverted dome, Counterpoint evolved into a room-sized steel gesture drawing in which the parts existed within a state of becoming and unraveling.
