On this commemorative medal, issued on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of birth of Ing. Pavel Ernest, the sixty years are presented as seconds, of which there are sixty to the minute, but which do not cease to run on attaining this limit value. The core of the medal, therefore, is the fully functional mechanical clockwork, which is fitted with one hand only – a red-coloured hand indicating seconds. The uncovered clockwork is mounted in a silver ring, so that the function of the individual parts might be visible. The obverse bears the sunken text: 13. 5. 2004 – the 60th anniversary of birth of Pavel Ernest. A synthetic emerald is embedded in the upper part of the medal, in the position of the imaginary figure 12 on the dial. On the reverse, in circumscription, there is the sunken text: 1 893 542 400 VTEŘIN NUMISMATIKA ING. PAVLA ERNESTA (1,893,542,400 SECONDS OF THE NUMISMATOLOGIST ING. PAVEL ERNEST). This number resulted from the actual conversion of sixty years into seconds, taking account of the exact date of birth.
