Our goal was to encourage New Yorkers to donate to City Harvest, a non-profit organization that rescues food - that would otherwise be discarded - for the hungry. We stuck to the startling facts. And used them to illustrate how much food is wasted and how much can be rescued for a modest donation - expressed in a way that New Yorkers could easily identify with. Direct mail donations increased by $60,000 over the previous year. Online donations increased by 20%.
