There is a wealth of form, variety and structure to be found in the world of plants. A world which has fascinated the curious for centuries, giving rise to enchanting collections of botanical art and living specimens. Plants can be harmoniously grouped by means of classification, habit or purpose and presented in such a way as to generate a visual language or mood. By accompanying this language with quality craft and finish it is possible to trigger an emotional response, associated with memories and nostalgia. Just as flora has qualities that can soothe or stimulate the senses so too can floral pattern. Striking or delicate details offer insight into a world from which we become ever more removed, while a considered pallet can allow for drama or repose. Most of us find taking time to appreciate nature a great tonic and I hope that the visual content of my work will stimulate a similar response, creating something of emotional and functional value. Using antique domestic items such as chemise and peg bags as inspiration I created simple kits intended for assembly by the user. Combining modern digital printing techniques with vintage fabrics and traditional skills makes each kit or piece unique. Read Less
