This is a body of work created by Terron Sorrells that results from an internal investigation. The images are a reflection of the artist’s critical nature as he describes portions of his environment that he is subjected to. Starting ambiguously and loose, the charcoal is laid down in an uncontrollable fashion not unlike the act of being born into a certain social class. As with life, the images then begin to take form through a process of decision making, altering marks until they mold with the whole picture or until an identity is defined. It is the identity that is relatable and really brings the observers together; not everybody shares the exact same history, but everybody has a history, memories that make people who they are. It is in these images that we discover a little bit about the artist, but more about ourselves, society, and how subjectivity effects the subconscious. The work describes a continuous battle of give and take, loss and gain, control and submission, and everything in between. Read Less
