Ceramics by DW (紅鬍子)

Below are photos of some of my ceramic works created between 2011 and 2014.  All of them were made and gas fired at the studio of Taiwanese master potter Wang Hong Shiang.

Items labeled 'Wood fired' were taken to the Pingxi or Sanzhi wood fired kiln in northern Taiwan or Miaoli in central Taiwan and fired to over 1200 degrees Celcius using only wood.  This unpredictable process takes 5 full days of constant labor plus an additional 5-7 days to gradually cool down and leaves unique one-of-a-kind tones on the raw clay body.  These tones are created by flames and also by ash deposits.
