Two options. The imagery is packed with symbolism. To make this piece important to the community and the museum, I picked a topic that most people in our area can relate to. It is common for the Red River Valley to have an annual flood. With the flood comes death, destruction, defiance and determination. The overall coffin-style shape of the house symbolizes death and destruction. The defiance and determination are built into the anchor and buoy. The anchor being our roots and resistance to move despite impending doom. The buoy displays a bright beacon showing that the house remains unmoved.
