This project was to redesign a defunct brand, and bring them into the 21st century. It was completed for Hunter Wimmer's Nature of Identity class at the Academy of Art University. I chose to rebrand Capitol Records. I felt that they, along with most of the music industry are following an outdated business plan. I believe that in order for the music industry to survive in the digital age they need to rethink the concept of music ownership, explore using subscription services and move their focus more to live shows and customer involvement. The logo I developed represents both the C and R of Capitol Records as well as a community coming together around the love of music.
