Canopy Chandelier
Inspired by the branches of a tree, the hanging sculpture was developed to hang under a light bulb and cast a shadow on the ground, providing the room with both a light and shade source, just like a canopy. The final construction depended on a core branch of 120 cm with four various size attachable branches. They are organized in a series of zones that group the largest in the center, the medium ones on either side of the center, and the smallest on the extremities.
Based on all of the same structural details, the two forms are very similar in volume but totally different in sensation. They feed off each other representing the ying and yang of nature and of life. Winter & summer, strength & vulnerability, activity & tranquility, tragedy & comedy, cold & hot, rough & gentle, urban & rural, night & day are all embodied in the two canopy lamp forms.At home, in a lobby, at a restaurant, bar, or night club, the CANOPY lamps Branch and Leaf can create a unique spatial light ambience. Acting as both a glass sculpture and a lamp, the CANOPY series adds a lively and practical artistic element to any room.
