Boston Convention Center
With the Boston Convention Center, the designers worked hard to move away from the typical 'black box' style of convention centers, those that are enclosed and have very limited amounts of natural lighting. They created a space that is completely infused with natural light and features high sloping ceilings which work together to create a space that is open and inviting. However the most striking element of the building is the curving metal roof which projects out and actually hangs over the street. The roof is much more than a design feature as it allows the building to serve as a transitional piece linking to otherwise separate parts of the city.
