This unique piece of artwork was made using extremely precise molding materials. In order to use those materials on humans I had to carefully chose my subjects and therefore end up selecting 3 fire fighters, people used to work in hard condition, with hard ventilation and face covered with masks.
The 3 face molds are made out of plaster and the amount of face details gives this piece of artwork a new approach in immortalizing the moment. The features of each face are different, one even has the imprint of the tooth, which is rarely found in plaster casts.
All of the masks are safely drilled onto a wood board, painted in this Japanese glossy dark paint. This gives the impression that the wood had just been painted, and the 3 masks reflect on it. I have splashed out some black acrylic onto the molds to give the impression that these faces have just came out from the "wet" wooden board.
All the components are hand made, hand painted, hand sanded and therefore is not perfect and has not got a "factory" standard..
This peace of art is ideal in a stylish pub, bar or restaurant but could also fit onto a wall. The wood board supporting the faces has side hooks, ready to be drilled onto the wall. For a more intriguing effect I would recommend attaching it onto a black wall, but that's just the artist's suggestion.
