Design exercise: Removing exactly 50% of the material, move the center of gravity of a 16x16x4" wooden slab to 6x6" from one corner, and create a form that can balance on a dowel. Then reimpose all waste material onto the existing form in a way that maintains the new centroid. I chose to set all waste pieces as vertical members that pierce through the horizontal layers created in the first part of the challenge. The design process took place largely in Rhino, then fabricated by hand in birch plywood. Read Less
