The urban fire pit, a place to flame-kiss your favourite foods. Inspiration for this design came from our childhood trips out camping in the wilderness of Ontario, with a goal of bringing that feeling back home. The combination of materials is a refreshing step away from the mass-produced stamped grills everyone is used to. This barbecue gets its structural integrity from the use of 1 inch thick birch ply, which is then sealed with a flame retardant coating. The steel basket is cut, then formed, working as a great housing for the fire and allowing for airflow out the side holes. The stainless steel cooking surface rests inside a concrete frame that acts as an anchor holding the steel bucket and the main housing together. With a footprint of only 18" x 18", this urban barbecue is ideal for use at a cottage or for those wanting an authentic outdoor experience in their backyard. The bottom image shows off one of our prototype models in action. Further testing of our current prototype will happen in the spring. Read Less
