An illustrated, self-guided audio tour inspired by John Cage. This exploration takes us through a typographical journey during the after hours of a performing arts campus while asking "What does silence sound like?" We are all familiar with noise and music, but are we with silence? Though we are unaware, music can consist of various accidental sounds regardless of whether or not humans produce them. All the music we hear consists of sounds that are both intentional and unintentional–not only what is designed, but also what is inadvertently produced in the vicinity. This illustrated tour thus guides us through an exploration led by one's attentiveness and meditative focus, gradually leading from the noisiest to the most silent environments. Each stop is mapped out through an abstract depiction of existing noise. It is then that we learn silence always contains sounds, it in fact becomes something other than itself. Read Less
