This video tells the story of how my paternal grandparents, both Holocaust survivors, met and began a new life together in Italy – and eventually New York – after WWII. Despite her advanced dementia, my grandmother, Frieda, who was 89 at the time, still maintained an uncanny memory for the music she once loved. My hope was that this combination of familiar song and animated visuals would spark her long term memory and transport her back to this time in her life.
