With six locations in New York, Miami, and New Jersey, Aroma Espresso Bar isn’t your ordinary coffee shop. Aroma specializes in Italian-blend coffee, frozen yogurt, and sandwiches, all to delight even the most uncompromising of consumers. In 2006, the Israeli-based company made the move to New York. Aroma started out in the high-end neighborhood of SoHo, and then expanded to the Upper West Side, TriBeCa and Midtown Manhattan. With new locations came new challenges, and one of these was the inability of the company to release their frozen yogurt with much success. It was then that that the company decided to come to Squat New York. Squat New York took the idea of frozen yogurt and transformed it by creating human personas for each frozen yogurt toping to embody, while asking consumers the question, “What kind of frozen yogurt are you?” The idea of the campaign was to have the consumer connect with their frozen yogurt on an emotional level rather than just merely eating frozen yogurt. Along with carefully designed faces, names such as Sweet Banana, Dainty Strawberry, and Groovy Carob soon appeared on store windows, registers, and posters in all of its US stores. Pins were even created to match the various frozen yogurt characters. Squat New York’s ingenuity paid off as the campaign sent frozen yogurt sales soaring 50% as it strategically played off of the company’s trendy ambiance. Frozen Yogurt Campaign
With seven locations in New York, Miami, and New Jersey, Aroma Espresso Bar isn’t your ordinary coffee shop. Aroma specializes in gourmet coffee, fresh home-made sandwiches and other specialties, all to delight even the most uncompromising of consumers. In addition to designing all signage and collateral, Squat Design was asked to create promotional material for Aroma's seasonal offerings.
 
Squat New York took the idea of frozen yogurt and personified it.  We characterized each topping of the product and asked the consumer, "What kind of frozen yogurt are you?" The idea of the campaign was to have the consumer connect with their frozen yogurt on an emotional level, and choose flavors according to his or her mood at the time. Carefully designed faces, names such as Sweet Banana, Dainty Strawberry, and Groovy Carob soon showed up on store windows, hung from the ceiling, and appeared on the walls of Aroma locations. Pins were even created to match the frozen yogurt‘s character and given away to Aroma guests. Squat New York’s ingenuity paid off as the campaign sent frozen yogurt sales soaring as it strategically meshed to the company’s trendy ambiance. It is with this kind of thoughtfulness and passion that Squat New York is proud to present our work for Aroma Espresso Bar US.
