// My project idea was born from a real existing problem in my city, Cagliari - Sardinia, involving one of the natural elements most characteristic of the area, the Poetto beach.
Until the 80s the beach is characterized by the presence of numerous wooden structures that serve as changing rooms, cabins and storage, the "Casotti", which are then destroyed in 1986.
Since then, the beach has undergone a series of interventions, also quite invasive, which have undermined the biological stability and touristic appeal.
My idea aims to realize the cabins, the "Casotti" of the future, the "flying Casotti".
The project evolves with reference to the original buildings, and tries to analyze the possible development of a minimum living space, functional to beach users.
This is the reason for which the space is minimized, and the cell is equiped with few, but essential, accessories: a small water tank, some shelves and adequate space for take refuge during the hottest hours and change clothes.
Still referring to originals "Casotti" I have decided for an architectural form that would allow the creation of clusters of most living cells: for this reason it is referred to the hexagonal structures of hives.
The choice of materials is strongly inspired by the original structures of the 60s: the external structure of wooden slats draws heavily on historic structures, with the addition of contemporary metallic materials like rheinzink and stainless steel. Read Less
