Aprire

This chair was designed in the Modernism, Criticism, and Design History class of Portfolio Center's Design Program. Its form derives from a personal story combined with the values and beliefs of the Bauhaus movement. Aprire (ah-pree-ray) in Italian means to open, to start, or to begin. The chair was designed to memorialize that moment in time where we feel truly open to ourselves and to others, thus beginning a new chapter of growth in our lives.
