The Big Idea:
Create a neighborhood pocket park that offers a refuge from the densely urban environment surrounding the site in Downtown Los Angeles' Financial District. The space was designed to bring t to relax outside that offers plenty of green, a trick that fools people into believing they’ve left the city and stepped into a lush natural habitat.
This translates into the following principles:
a) Use minimal hardscape
b) Create fluctuating topography
c) Enclose the space from its surroundings
d) Avoid straight lines or symmetry
e) Provide plenty of convenient seating
