Al’s Cafe has been a part of Elgin, Illinois’ history for over 70 years. Back in 1937, when it was the home of Burn’s Drugstore, they served customers the famous Burn’s Malts. Now Mr. Burns is long gone, the Burn’s Malt has lived on at Al’s over the years, bringing in returning loyal customers and receiving rave reviews from guests. The problem is that Al’s has been facing a slower crowd since those glory days. As Randall Road has expanded with chain restaurants that are current and modern with the times, Al’s has been falling between the cracks. They’ve suffered from having and inconsistent and unwelcoming branding system. To help Al’s thrive in Elgin one again, I rebranded Al’s Cafe, focusing on bright colors and fun patterns to make the identity more welcoming and family friendly, so younger audiences can experience the quality food and community feel that Al’s has to offer and create memories that will last through the generations to come.
