A very special project born in coop with a very special friend.
The friend is Ivan Iurato, 4th classified in season two of Masterchef Italy.
Ivan is really talented chef and he totally love his Sicily and Comiso, his own town.
I've to admit that here is not so usual to be able to contact and interact with people who have some experience in TV show (usually they think to be superstars and don't care about fans)... Ivan is the same of the start of the show, easy and clean like a friend you know since lot of years.

After some month talking on twitter and Facebook, he told me that a big project was in the air... his own restaurant based on the four stars hotel El Homs Palace .

Proudly from Sicily, Ivan want to explore the Sicily cooking traditions with some innovation.

UPDATE: unfortunally Ivan's project was stopped due to some problem but he's still working as a chef in another restaurant. Anyway really tnx to Ivan for giving me the opportunity to work on this project.
This is the point when we start cooperating in the creation of the logo of the "Affavuriri" restaurant. Affavuriri is sicilian dialect that means "enjoy" and it's obviously related to food.
Font used
Talking with Ivan the idea was really clear, font must be clean and easy, with the exception of the name of the restaurant that should be done like a hand written name.
Logo costruction
Here are two visive elements that represent all. First one is symbol with crossed cutlery that perfectly represent the idea of a restaurant.
The second one is on the bottom of the logo between "Comiso" and "Sicilia" and it's a stylized version of the Trinacria symbol.
Due to this triangle shape, Sicily was called "Trinakìa" by Greek that circumnavigate it and saw three capes that today we know as Capo Passero at sud, Capo Peloro at est e Capo Lilibeo at west. With time Trinakìa become Trinacria.
Ivan ask me to modify the center of the logo that consist of three legs (the three capes) and on center the Medusa head.
Ivan request was quite simple, just a circle or something that make the logo easy considering that this is going to be reproduced also in small size.
Logo colors
Sicily colors are red and yellow, so the choise was quite simple to do... two different Pantone colors to use:
