Anthropometric Racing Canoe
The ARC Phantom is the working prototype of my 2009 Thesis project. It was designed according to an athlete’s strongest pull, which is one that closest to him, as he can apply more weight to the blade and move the boat more efficiently. By reducing the line of the gunwales, the boat effectively becomes narrower at the draw stroke, without compromising the convexity of the hull and therefore complying to the rules of the International Canoe Federation. The prototype was completed in the summer of 2011 and built out using cold molded Spanish Cedar and epoxy under vacuum.
