Retrospect needed an updated logo to allow their customers to identify them from their competitors.

My current place of employment's logo was boring and unrecognizable. I suggested with concern for the company's well-being that it needed to be changed so as to give our customers something that they would remember everytime they were placing an order.

One of my first concepts was to take the 'retro' idea and run with it. Inspired by Art Deco signs during the fifties.
I wanted to use an arrow in one of the concepts to convey movement from the past into the present.
After the first couple of rounds, we decided that since our logo will mostly be paired with that of whatever museums we happen to be working with, it would be better to go for a more subtle approach instead of the full word 'Retrospect' I decided to go with just a simple 'R' to be used as a watermark on our products.
During the process I thought about what it was that I did at this job. Mostly cropping fine art to fit onto posters and postcards. I put that into this logo where the logo was cropping out the serifs and part of the bowl of the R.
This final product is simple, professional, and recognizable. It is easy to produce and can be placed anywhere on our products.
